is a curator, teacher, writer, multi-disciplinary artist, and advocate of gender, culture and environment. A graduate of Art Studies from the University of the Philippines and a candidate for a master's degree in Art History where she also taught cinema studies and now teaches the Department of Art Studies, visual art and design courses at the Young Artists' Studio from 2009 to present, curates exhibitions in Manila since 2011 and is a member of Independent Curators International (New York). Avie currently serves as head curator of vMeme Contemporary Art Gallery, program director of Young Artists’ Studio, officer of the executive council of the National Committee on Art Galleries (National Commission of Culture and the Arts), and a mother to young artist Alaya Esguerra.
