About the Artist

​

Kathleen Sareena Dagum (b. 1986) is a sculptor and illustrator, and has worked as an educator for children. Through her artworks, she seeks to comment on social and political issues. She was the grand awardee for sculpture at the 2021 Metrobank Art and Design Excellence (MADE) awards. She has a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education from Mindanao State University and a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from the University of the Philippines Diliman

Kathleen Sareena Dagum's Bungkag won for the Sculpture category in 2021 Metrobank Art & Design Excellence. The wooden sculpture Bungkag (a Cebuano term which means "to demolish") depicts "systematic oppression and a struggle for freedom."
